Calculate TikTok Shop costs & margin

Enter your selling price and your purchase price – the calculator deducts sales commission, transaction fee, creator payout, shipping, returns and VAT, and shows what is really left per order.

The rates that have applied in Germany since 8 January 2026 are pre-filled. Only the rates in your own Seller Center are binding – why, is explained here.

Your numbers

The price the buyer pays in the shop – including VAT.

The rate depends on the product category and changes. The 4 per cent entry rate only applies if you list at least five products within 15 days.

Not a TikTok fee but your decision – and in practice usually the largest single item.

€4.19 corresponds to Ship by TikTok with GLS, regardless of weight. If the buyer pays, enter 0.

Higher in social commerce than in classic retail, because buying is impulsive.

What is left

Contribution margin per order sold

calculating

    Margin on net revenue

    Highest viable purchase price

Minimum price for the target margin

    Contribution margin per month

Basis of the calculation. Commission, transaction fee, creator payout and ad spend are calculated on the gross selling price; VAT is deducted separately. The return costs include outbound shipping of the returned order, the return itself and the loss in value of the goods – apportioned across the orders that actually stay with the buyer. The calculator is an aid to costing, not binding information: the rates that apply to you are found solely in your own Seller Center, for your particular product category.

    How to read the result

    The contribution margin

What is left after all variable costs – before staff, studio, agency, warehousing and tax are paid. If it is negative, you lose money on every order.

    The viable purchase price

The ceiling up to which the item just about carries itself at this selling price. The most useful figure for the conversation with your supplier.

    The minimum price

The selling price you need at your purchase price to reach your target margin. If it is above the market price, the range will not carry the channel.

    Frequently asked questions

Why is the creator payout higher than the platform commission?

Because it is not a fixed rate but your offer to the creators. Usual ranges: 5 to 7 per cent in electronics, 10 to 20 per cent in cosmetics, 10 to 12 per cent on average in the other categories. More under commission models and affiliate management.

What does TikTok Shop cost if I sell nothing?

Nothing. Opening an account, product listings and the shop tab in the profile are free, there is no base fee, no listing fee and no minimum term. Costs only arise with a sale.

Do I have to include an advertising budget?

Not at the start, yes for scaling. Organic reach costs nothing. As soon as a product scales through ads or GMV Max, that budget belongs in the same calculation – the „ad spend“ field is there for it.

Does the calculator also apply to LIVE auctions?

In essence yes, with one deviation: auctions temporarily carry their own, lower commission rate. Enter it under „my own rate“. What else to watch for in the format is under rules for LIVE auctions and TikTok Shop LIVE.

Why does my result differ from the statement?

Because promotional discounts, shipping subsidies, vouchers and category-specific rates feed into the real statement. The calculator models the normal case – which is enough to decide whether a range carries at all.

Does your range not add up?

Then it is rarely the commission rate but the combination of price, cost of goods and creator payout. We will work it through for your range before you put time into the channel.
