Affiliate & Creator Management

20 creators are not enough.
200 videos are.

Affiliate management on TikTok Shop rarely fails on budget and almost always on the volume and quality of content. Our rule of thumb from live work: movement in the channel only starts once around 200 videos featuring your product exist. That takes 20 to 30 active creators in the first month.

What a commission may cost

The usual rates differ considerably by industry. Set them too low and creators simply overlook you – set them too high and you give away margin you will not get back later.

IndustryUsual commission
Electronics5–7 %
Cosmetics and beauty10–20 %
All other categories10–12 % on average

Commission is only one side of the calculation. What is left at the end also depends on the platform fee, shipping and returns – the full breakdown is under TikTok Shop fees.

The mistake that costs the most in sampling

Brands almost always select creators on a single number: GMV over the last 30 days. That is the most expensive misconception in the whole area.

Revenue does not transfer

The fact that someone sold a lot last month says nothing about whether they can sell your product. What matters is whether their community fits the product – and whether people believe they use it.

A man talking about a moisturising face cream is simply less convincing than a woman doing the same. That is not a question of reach but of credibility.

Samples are not an order

Without a relationship to the creators you can end up with fewer videos than samples sent. With inexperienced creators who have little revenue of their own, nothing may come back at all.

We recommend 20 to 30 samples in the first round – but only together with a process that makes sure content actually results.

Any creator can sell

That sentence really does hold – provided they are given the tools. A creator has to know the reasons customers buy this product so they can pick them up in the video.

Very few brands have those reasons in a usable form. Finding them and passing them to the creators is the core of our work.

What the support actually looks like

We go into direct contact with the creators – daily, not quarterly.

That builds a relationship a brand can hardly create on its own, however large it is. Creators tell us things they would not tell a brand: that a product is hard to explain, that viewers drop off at the price, that a video hook does not work.

In concrete terms, support with us means training, analysing and feeding back from data and experience – for each brand individually, because the reasons to buy differ from range to range.

The difference shows in repetition: a creator who posts once is a campaign. Fifty creators posting weekly are a sales channel.

HITWAY: +1,106 % in one quarter

The proof that the leverage sits in the creator network and not in the studio.

At HITWAY everything ran through affiliate: creator selection, sampling, commission management and ongoing support. Within one quarter the channel grew to around $277,000 GMV1,106 % more than the previous quarter. TikTok Shop then approached us to document the work as a case study.

Questions you should ask every agency

  1. How many creators are you planning for the first month – and how many videos do you expect from that?
  2. By which criteria do you select creators, other than their revenue?
  3. How do you make sure a sample turns into a video?
  4. How do your creators know why customers buy my product?
  5. How often do you speak to the creators?
  6. Which commission do you recommend for my category – and why exactly that one?

Does your range suit creators?

Tell us what you sell – we will tell you which creators are credible for it and what commission to expect.
